I am constantly amazed at the role dance plays in the lives of so many people. You don’t have to become a professional dancer, or even WANT to become a professional dancer to have it affect your life so positively. You don’t have to be scored, rated or awarded to have it mean something to you…..or to validate your performance. You can simply dance FROM the heart and dance FOR the heart. Dance should change you…for the better. It should remind you that we are all built DIFFERENTLY, but that we should ALL respect our bodies. It should let your soul be free, when everything else around you seems binding. You should be both inspired by others as well as satisfied with your OWN level of accomplishment. Dance means something different to each of us. We don’t all have to have perfect bodies, perfect technique, or the perfect arch to be a “dancer”. Because to me, and hopefully to all those whom I’ve taught, being a “dancer” is simply “dancing”……dancing with love, with focus, with heart, and without pressure. Let’s all dance.
